Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). This highly contagious virus is spread primarily through close contact and via respiratory droplets produced when people cough or sneeze. This is why it is especially important to stay at home whenever possible. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus in the first place. By staying at home, a person can substantially reduce their chances of coming into close contact with an infected indivdual(s). Of course, some people may not be able to stay at home all the time. They may work in essential jobs that require physical presence such as medical workers, firefighters, food distribution, etc. These next steps can be taken to reduce a person's risk of contracting covid-19 if it's absolutely necessary to leave the house.
