Climbing

Mount Everest

Green Boots Cave

'Green Boots Cave is a popular stop off and waypoint for climbers inside the Death Zone. It also contains the bodies of Tsewang Paljor and David Sharp.

Tsewang is a climber who died inside the cave while seeking shelter. He is known for the bright green boots he wore. David Sharp was another mountaineer. It was thought that he might be a bit inexperienced for Everest.

He stopped inside Green Boots cave to take a rest, but stayed a little too long and found himself to be frozen in place. Later, a group of travelers passed by him, thinking him to be dead. It wasn’t until one of the climbers saw him breathe and whisper “help me” that they realized he was alive, but it was too late. David Sharp couldn’t be moved or saved. They had to leave him there to die, as a rescue in that part of the mountain would be near impossible.'
