Ugly Location Pretty Photos Challenge

The Story Behind The Challenge

The idea for the challenge comes from a commercial photographer named Jenna Martin who took a model friend of hers to Lowe's, a home improvement store in her area. The challenge is to go to a place you wouldn't normally consider for a photoshoot, a place that would be considered ugly and through your own skill create some beautiful photos.

To do this challenge there were a few rules to follow:

  1. We had to work with whatever was already there.
  2. We couldn’t rearrange the displays or make any big changes.
  3. We’d stop shooting if anyone was in the background.

Home Depot

The first location we went to was a Home Depot. We worked in a few different areas of the store. These areas included: the lighting section, the paint chip section, and the outdoor section.

Shell Gas Station

Once we were done with the Home Depot Shoot, I noticed a Shell gas station across the parking lot and thought the back of it would make for some interesting images so we went there.
